Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2025
Welcome to TaxLaidOut. By using this website and its tools you agree to these terms. TaxLaidOut is a free, web-based tool that helps UK online sellers understand their possible tax position and estimate profit after marketplace fees.
General information, not advice
TaxLaidOut provides general information and automated estimates. It is not tax, accounting, financial or legal advice and must not be relied on as such. The information is provided to help you understand your situation and decide what to look into next. Always check the official guidance on gov.uk or consult a qualified accountant before acting or filing. (See also the disclaimer in our site footer.)
The service is provided free and “as is”
The service is provided free of charge. It is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for your particular circumstances.
No agency relationship with HMRC
TaxLaidOut is independent of, and not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to HMRC or any online marketplace. We do not file anything with HMRC on your behalf. Nothing here creates any agency, partnership or employment relationship between you and TaxLaidOut.
Accuracy limitations
Estimates and figures shown by the tools are based on the rules and fee structures in force on the “last verified” date displayed with each result (rules last verified 2026-07-01; fees last verified 2026-06-30). Tax rules, allowances and marketplace fees change over time, and your individual circumstances may differ. You are responsible for confirming the current position before relying on any output.
Acceptable use
You agree to use TaxLaidOut lawfully and not to:
- use the service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service;
- use automated tools to scrape or abuse the service in a way that harms it;
- misrepresent the outputs as professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaxLaidOut shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service — including indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profits, tax positions or data. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights under UK law or any liability that cannot be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
